I’m very pleased to be able to share a project I’ve been involved in for the past few months, working with Mister Finch – a Leeds-based textile artist who makes amazing soft sculpture creatures. He has just created his largest body of work to date, titled The Wish Post.
I was hugely honoured to design the book that accompanies the collection of work, and which documents the story around which the work is based.
It was about 6 weeks solid work, going through 1000+ photos and using a bit of digital magic to bring things to life, designing the typography and textures, and little bits of tape and scribbles, to give it all the proper Mister Finch feel.
To hold the final 148 page book in my hands is really special. It even smells great.
The exhibition is on at Yorkshire Sculpture Park until 23rd September. Being there for the opening and seeing the well-deserved response to his wonderful creations was fantastic. Having had a sense of just how much work Finch has put in, I’m just so chuffed it’s all come together and incredibly proud of the work I’ve put into the book and in helping create an artefact that documents the journey.
You can pick up a book from the exhibition or Mister Finch’s website here.
