Working in partnership with my friend illustrator Drew Millward, I designed the layout for the 2014 Leeds Beer Fest programme.

Laying out lots of information into a document can be a deceptively tricky task. It’s important that not only is the content easy to read but that it’s also pleasing to engage with and conveys the same brand feel as the rest of the project.

In order to make the programme as functional as possible, I colour coded the sections, with coloured bands along the outer edge making it easy to flick through. I also made sure each of the beer listings had a bullet point, encouraging visitors to ‘tick off’ anything they tasted. I also included small sections for notes.

To add interest and ensure that the listings pages didn’t all look the same, I took cropped elements from Drew’s poster design and reworked them into incidental motifs throughout the programme.

The end result is a really nice document of the event which is as pleasing to flip through as it is functional.
