Opera North approached myself and animator Ashley Dean to collaboratively produce a 30 second short advertising their season of Benjamin Britten Operas.

Using the existing print advertisements as a starting point, we decided to focus on using animated typography to bring to life the words of the narrator describing one moment from the opera Peter Grimes. As well as art directing and designing the implimentation of the typography for each scene, I also mixed the sound using existing Opera North recordings and third-party sourced recorded sounds.

Two formats of the finished short were created – one for general and online viewing and one to be played as cinema advertising.
