Where I been / Where I’m goin’

Well it’s been a whirlwind past month or so. As usual Flatstock in Hamburg, Germany was a blast, and it was great to be a part of the Coloured Gigs exhibition in Dresden. Since then my work has also been shown at an exhibition in Rome, Italy called Posters Rock which you can see a little more about here.

Last weekend I taught a 2 day Screenprinting Workshop at the Bluecoat Studios in Liverpool which was a lot of fun.  There has been a lot of interest in the printing workshops I’ve been involved in and further workshops held at the studio where I print, West Yorkshire Print Workshop, are in the pipeline.  If you’ve like to be informed of when future workshops are confirmed then drop me a line using the contact form and I’ll keep you in the loop.

I’ve created a TUMBLR account as an easier way to update the progress of new work as well as share other stuff I find interesting on the web. This main blog you are reading now will still be used for more formal news and events.

Finally, in case you haven’t visited in a while, there’s lots of new stuff in the Shop please take a look.

Until next time, stay warm friends!

Germany bound

Isn’t technology brilliant? Here I am in the Manchester Airport departure lounge, using a personal wifi signal generated by my phone in order to update this blog via my iPad, while enjoying a coffee. It’s almost like sorcery.

So, I thought it would be remiss of me not to let people know that I will once again be attending Flatstock as part of the Reeperbahnfestival in Hamburg, Germany. Here is a link:

If you are a Hamburg local, visiting the Festival, or just happen to be drunk and lost and find yourself on the Reeperbahn, then swing on by and say hello!

My adventures don’t end there, however! I will also be heading to Dresden the weekend afterwards to take part in Coloured Gigs a yearly poster exhibition which you can read more about here: http://www.douze.de/index.php3?page=colored-gigs

While I am away the AoC shop will still be online, with the caveat that all orders will be posted out when I return in October. All orders will contain an extra bonus print or 2 as a thankyou for the patience of my wonderful costumers!

Auf wiedersehen comrades!

Month of Poster MAYhem

Well, the month of May is finally beaten into submission, and what a month it’s been.

Myself and the other UKPA soldiers organised the INK & PAPER exhibition in London, which I’m pleased to say was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who attended, purchased work, or got involved in the Q&A session we did, as well as all the artists who contributed work or helped out with practical stuff during the exhibition.

You can see some of my photos from the event here.

Then I high-tailed it up to lovely Liverpool where I taught a couple of screenprinting workshops and then took part in SCREENADELICA, which, much like last year, was super busy and great fun.

Rounding off the end of May, I hauled my treasure chest of poster goodies over to Barcelona to take part in FLATSTOCK 34, in conjuction with Primavera Festival. Again, another great experience – thanks to the many other artists I got to share good times with, as well as everyone who came to look at the work, bought stuff, shared beer, or put up with mine (and Drozd’s) particular brand of distressed nonsense.

Finally, in case you needed a reminder — the AoC SHOP is now back online.

Flatstock 33 – SXSW

I’m very excited to once again be part of the Flatstock event taking place as part of the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. It’s crazy to think this is the 33rd Flatstock! Amazing poster overload!

Sponsored by HGTV and Co-presented by the American Poster Institute (API) and SXSW, Flatstock 33 will display the works of more than 100 artists from across North America and the globe. The exhibition is free and open-to-the-public running March 14-17 and features posters representing decades of styles, colors and techniques for sale. Show up early and be ready to be overwhelmed with amazing posters. (You might want to bring some dough since you won’t want to leave empty handed!) The exhibition is free and open to the public.

If you’re visiting SXSW please swing by the UKPA stand and say hello.
