INK & PAPER 2

I_P_2_DATES_POSTER_lo_res

Ink&Paper 2 is the highly anticipated follow-up to our 2012 Ink&Paper exhibition. It is being organised by myself and the other UKPA and will take place in London in early May.

Like the first event, this will be one of the biggest exhibitions of contemporary gigposter art in the UK. We’ve curated an amazing lineup of some of the best UK gigposter art talent and it includes some artists who are a little newer to the medium but no less exciting. It promises to be a great event and I’m very proud to be involved.

Come along to the private view on Friday 6th May and enjoy some complimentary fizzy booze-pops and mingle with many of the artists and doodlers involved!

It will be held at Stour Space gallery and is happening with the generous sponsorship of Awesome Merchandise, Lagunitas Brewing, eFrame, and British Underground.

Hope to see you there!

Public Service Broadcasting – Green Man poster

I’m very pleased to announce my 3rd screenprinted poster for Public Service Broadcasting.

PSBGMposter

This print commemorates their forthcoming appearance at Green Man Festival and is a 3 colour, hand-printed silkscreen print in a very limited edition of 60.

For festival goers, this will be available at the UKPA Poster Tent along with posters for some of the other acts playing the festival, other gigposters, artprints, tshirts, bags, and other goodies.

Last year we had a fantastic time showing, selling & talking about our work, so myself and my fellow artists are really looking forward to it once again – if you are headed to the festival please come and say hi and see our work!

PSB

If you aren’t going to the festival, I will be keeping a small number of posters back which will go up on my online shop when I get back. Keep an eye on my Twitter stream for when these go live.

As well as a new poster for PSB, I also produced a poster for my lovely Leeds friends HOOKWORMS:

Same deal as above – available at the festival with hopefully a few left over for the shop.

Here is the full set of posters our group have designed for the festival. Read more about the artists and the set on this UKPA blog page here: http://ukposterart.com/post/126506941113/ukpa-poster-series-for-green-man-2015

INK & PAPER BRISTOL – May 16-17

FLYER_front_lores

Bristolians! There will be a positively grand exhibition happening in your city THIS WEEKEND, organised by the UKPA, and hosted by the warm and wonderful folk of Jacknife Studio.

It features work by some of the best gigposter and print artists in the UK today (and a rather special US guest artist) – and even some of my own work to boot. If you were present at the first Ink & Paper exhibition, which was hugely successful, then you’ll know the sort of quality to expect. If you’re around the Bristol area, definitely try and make the trip and enjoy some of the fine hospitality of the Jacknife guys and gals.

See the Facebook event page here.

Screenprint Workshop

Hey you, would you like to learn how to screenprint your own prints and posters in a fun and exciting environment?  Well I have just the thing!

2 Day Screenprinting Workshop – 15/16th June 2013

The 2 day course is held by myself and fellow print artist Cameron Steward, and covers the entire process of getting your design ready for print, preparing and creating screens, and screenprinting prints and posters; specific topics to be covered will be:

– Designing work using graphics software or by hand
– Making your design ‘screenprint friendly’-understanding the pros and cons of the medium
– Registration tips and tricks
– Using such techniques as trapping and overprinting
– Screenprinting accurately and at speed
– Paper types and weights

The course takes place at the West Yorkshop Print Workshop, in Mirfield (easy to get to from Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Wakefield, etc.).

We’ve had some great feedback from previous course attendees so it is as educational and it is fun.

Flyposting Exhibition #2

Flyposting 2 poster

FLYPOSTING #2
THE Gallery at Flannels (and other venues)
68 – 78 Vicar Lane, Leeds   /  March 1st – May 11th

I’m very pleased to be involved in the FLYPOSTING poster exhibition once again, here in my home city of Leeds.  This time it’s bigger and better than before, with more artists from around the globe and work displayed in more venues around the city.
There’s a great mix of gigposters, event posters, and art prints, and everything is beautifully framed. If you’re out and about in Leeds the main exhibition at the Gallery at Flannels, where the bulk of the work is exhibited, is certainly worth a visit to see many great prints close up with your personal eyeballs. Go do it friends!
Lot’s more information on each artist, as well as directions and other informationalisms at the website here: flyposting2.blogspot.co.uk
Thanks to Tony Baker and everyone else involved in organising the exhibition.

Where I been / Where I’m goin’

EXHIBITIONS:

Well it’s been a whirlwind past month or so. As usual Flatstock in Hamburg, Germany was a blast, and it was great to be a part of the Coloured Gigs exhibition in Dresden. Since then my work has also been shown at an exhibition in Rome, Italy called Posters Rock which you can see a little more about here.

WORKSHOPS:

Last weekend I taught a 2 day Screenprinting Workshop at the Bluecoat Studios in Liverpool which was a lot of fun.  There has been a lot of interest in the printing workshops I’ve been involved in and further workshops held at the studio where I print, West Yorkshire Print Workshop, are in the pipeline.  If you’ve like to be informed of when future workshops are confirmed then drop me a line using the contact form and I’ll keep you in the loop.

OTHER STUFF:

I’ve created a TUMBLR account as an easier way to update the progress of new work as well as share other stuff I find interesting on the web. This main blog you are reading now will still be used for more formal news and events.

Finally, in case you haven’t visited in a while, there’s lots of new stuff in the Shop please take a look.

Until next time, stay warm friends!

Germany bound

Isn’t technology brilliant? Here I am in the Manchester Airport departure lounge, using a personal wifi signal generated by my phone in order to update this blog via my iPad, while enjoying a coffee. It’s almost like sorcery.

So, I thought it would be remiss of me not to let people know that I will once again be attending Flatstock as part of the Reeperbahnfestival in Hamburg, Germany. Here is a link:

http://www.reeperbahnfestival.com/en/arts/about/news/artikel/2012/07/19/flatstock-europe-poster-convention-8-ist-ausgebucht/

If you are a Hamburg local, visiting the Festival, or just happen to be drunk and lost and find yourself on the Reeperbahn, then swing on by and say hello!

My adventures don’t end there, however! I will also be heading to Dresden the weekend afterwards to take part in Coloured Gigs a yearly poster exhibition which you can read more about here: http://www.douze.de/index.php3?page=colored-gigs

While I am away the AoC shop will still be online, with the caveat that all orders will be posted out when I return in October. All orders will contain an extra bonus print or 2 as a thankyou for the patience of my wonderful costumers!

Auf wiedersehen comrades!
