I have over a decade of printing experience and for a number of years I have enjoyed teaching others the magic and mess of screenprinting.
I teach regular printing courses at West Yorkshire Print Workshop, an open access printmaking studio in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.
It’s a cool place – the building is a former Victorian Church School – it’s where I learned the basics of printmaking myself, and I’ve been a member there ever since.
My Screenprinted Posters course takes place over a weekend and covers:
-
Designing print imagery using graphics software or by hand
-
Making your design ‘screen print friendly’ – understanding the pros and cons of the medium
-
Ink mixing & colour matching
- Registration tips and tricks
-
Techniques such as trapping, overprinting, transparency effects, and blends.
-
Paper types and weights

“The weekend course was the most enjoyable I HAVE HAD of any workshop – EVER! Graham is extremely knowledgeable but at the same time amazing at passing on exactly the required amount of info to pupils within their personal limitations. I really appreciate all the time you gave me and all the encouragement. The trouble-shooting session is what I found most valuable – it’s all very well to know what’s meant to happen, but amazing to already know what to do when it’s actually not! Such a nice, laid-back style in teaching that it caused our group dynamic to be excellent as well. I have not been to any other weekend course where a group has been as good at pulling together and helping one another out as this past weekend.”
